The academic year at Carson Long begins a week after Labor Day and concludes the Saturday after Memorial Day.
There are three main vacations during the academic year at Carson Long. During these breaks, the campus is closed and the cadets are required to depart campus.
All breaks begin at 8:30 a.m. on the Saturday morning of the break.
Depending on the break, the end of a vacation could be Sunday evening or Monday evening. Please check the school calendar. All cadets are required to be on campus by 8:00 p.m. the day a break ends.
Yes, Carson Long purchases bulk tickets through Amtrak for Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break. The train station in Harrisburg is 45 minutes from the campus.
Carson Long drivers will also get students to an airport, MegaBus drop off, or other mass transportation location.
A local car service can be contracted if necessary.

Cadets aren't required to bring much with them from home, except underwear, t-shirts, socks, shoes, and bedding, if you choose.
Carson Long can provide a Supply Box with bedding, towels, toiletries, etc.
Carson Long cadets are not permitted to wear civilian clothing at any time except sleep wear for bed.
Yes, Carson Long cadets are permitted to possess a cell phone while on campus. However, its use is strictly limited to the evening, after dinner, during the study hall breaks, and in the evening before TAPS.
If a cadet has achieved 1st honors status, they are permitted to carry their cell phone during the class day.
Parents are always welcome to visit campus and their son. We ask that you let the Centennial Hall Duty Officer know that you plan to visit.
Cadets have the opportunity to earn 2 overnight passes per marking period, dependent upon their academic and disciplinary performance.
The intention of an overnight pass is have the parents visit the local area and get a local hotel room.
Carson Long offers 3 enrollment options for domestic students: Day Student, 5-Day Boarding, and 7-Day Boarding.
5-Day Boarding students must live within a 2 hour radius of campus, and are eligible to be picked up on Friday afternoon after their athletic and academic obligations are met in full for the week. 5-Day boarders must return to campus by Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m.
In the past, families have selected 5-Day boarding if their son has family, church, community, or organizational obligations that require him to complete on an annual basis.
Carson Long offers a tremendous value to all of its families. Tuition includes all aspects of enrollment, including: tuition, room and board, 3 meals a day, initial uniform issue, all academic and participation fees, bi-weekly haircuts, weekly laundry service, and $1,000 for activities and weekly allowance, and $2,000 for incidental expenses like uniform replacement, infirmary charges, transportation and testing fees, etc.
There are no hidden costs to attend Carson Long.
There is one student activity that requires an additional fee, Ski Club.
If a cadet participates in Ski Club, there is an additional fee, which purchases the cadet a pass at Ski Roundtop, the closest ski slope to CLMA.
No, as a boarding school, we have school year round, regardless of the weather.
