Honor Rock
Story of the Honor Rock

The stone is New England granite and was found within a sand pit where it had rested since the last ice age. Roughly six feet long, two feet thick, and three feet high, it weighs 4,460 pounds.

The rock was excavated by Barnicoat Monuments near Middleboro, Massachusetts. Jack Barnicoat, owner of the company, carved the word "HONOR' using a sandblaster to form the letters to a depth of one-half inch. A "V" shaped hydraulic chisel then deepened the letters into Roman-style lettering.

TUITION

The tuition at Carson Long Military Institute for the first year (academic year 2008-2009) is $16,500. The tuition fee includes room and board, academic instruction [to include textbooks, testing and library] athletics, assemblies, lectures, weekend movies, maintenance, haircuts, laundry, dry cleaning and uniforms. For the second year, the cost is $15,500.

The tuition fee does not include transportation (e.g. vacations, or to/from medical appointments), personal expense account (weekly allowance/activity trips), additional uniforms, uniform rank and insignia, personal dry cleaning, book store items, personal supplies, prescription medicine, extra medical treatment or extra charges and required fees (see below). Parents should keep in mind that uniforms should not be considered entirely as school expense since they replace civilian outer clothing.

It is estimated that both new and returning Cadets will spend approximately $1,500 for those expenses not included in the tuition. Parents are advised to budget this amount in the overall expenses for the year. If a Cadet is careful of his expenditures, he should be able to stay within this amount.
